progress gauge weirdness

cvs updated the latest beta about an hour ago... no i have a vm session going, and at one point the progress gauge came up (fontifying) now I'm left with some odd remnants of the gauge as shown in the attachment this is redhat linux 6.1, pretty much just did a ./configure Jeff
