  You need c:\cygwin\bin (or wherever your cygwin1.dll is) in your windows path.


I found 3 references to XEmacs in the registry database: "runemacs.exe",
"xemacs.exe", "xemacs-27.4.7.exe" set to
"C:/cygwin/usr/local/bin/i686-pc-cygwin;C:/cygwin/bin;C:/cygwin/usr/bin"
Is another registry entry missing ?

Don't know.

Note: last month, I installed the native XEmacs release with success on
another XP platform...

      This is not relevant.
