No, I didn't configured xemacs with either the above options.
Do we need to configure xemacs with gnome support for using it
on gnome-session?

Yes, It seems the problem is with xemacs window only. After I killed the xemacs
window my gnome-session is happy.

Was your XEmacs configured --with-gtk or --with-gnome?

Are you sure XEmacs is the problem?  Have you, for example, remotely
logged into your hung machine, killed the XEmacs process, then had the
machine come back to life?
