Sub-process pblms with 32-bit Cygwin builds (was Re: Cygwin 64-bit compilation experience?)

OK, a bit of narrowing in because I had some old (cygwin, 32-bit) binaries lying around. -rwxr-xr-x 1 ht None 12763500 Apr 28 2013 /usr/local/bin/xemacs-21.5-b33.exe -rwxr-xr-x 1 ht None 12618371 Aug 23 2012 /usr/local/bin/xemacs-21.5-b32.exe -rwxr-xr-x 1 ht None 12548059 Aug 5 2011 /usr/local/bin/xemacs-21.5-b31.exe -rwxr-xr-x 1 ht None 12529855 May 6 2011 /usr/local/bin/xemacs-21.5-b31_20110506.exe -rwxr-xr-x 1 ht None 10850832 Dec 13 2010 /usr/local/bin/xemacs-21.5-b29.exe The b29 version runs M-x shell just fine. All the others fail. That's wrt current 32-bit Cygwin on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine, i.e. CYGWIN_NT-6.1-WOW64 ... 1.7.27. I'll see what I can see in the change logs betwee 12/2010 and 5/2011. . . But it does seem odd that, per my previous message, M-x shell _was_ working in August 2011, almost certainly with the above b31.exe, on Cygwin 1.7.? (10 or 11, I think). ht -- Henry S.
