DUMP opening mails in Gnus which contain German umlauts

Hi! Sorry if this comes along twice, XEmacs just crashed during the send process of the predecessor - sigh... XEmacs 21.2 (beta44) "Thalia" [Lucid] (i386-unknown-freebsd3.3, Mule) of Tue Feb 13 2001 on lamia.LF.net If I open a mail containing a German umlaut, I'll get a core dump. The Lisp-backtrace ends in string-match("\\b[^＠ <>]+[!＠][^＠ <>]+\\b" "Isabelle Tr\xf6ndle <I.Troendle(a)delmia.de&gt;&quot;) ^ | hex representation The c-backtrace reads (this was another mail, therefore another umlaut) norbert.
