Dear Bug Team!
I'm evaluating the following sexps in *scratch*:
(global-set-key [(shift f5)] #'find-file)
nil
(describe-key-briefly '(shift f5))
"Sh-f5 runs the command find-file"
But when I type C-h c S-f5, I get told "f5 is undefined", i.e., the
shift key is not recognized.
For other keys (alphanumerical, keypad, and cursor keys) the shift
modifier is recognized. I.e., I can set the key '(shift up) and that
works.
This is only a problem with daikon. On the same system runs the
SUSE-supplied corn version (i.e., 21.5-b21) and this version
recognizes the shift modifier for function keys.
I have verified this with two different X servers, X.org 6.8.1 on a
SUSE 9.2, and X.org 6.8.2 on a SUSE 10.0.
xmodmap -pm shows that there are no modifier conflicts, only Shift_L
and Shift_R are associated to shift.
xev correctly shows the shift modifier (as 0x1), so I'm rather sure
that there are no problems with my X setup.
Any ideas what I could do to get at my 12 shifted function keys?
Joachim

To choose a package from those installed, click on "Options" ->
